How did Leo get its name?

Leo - Latin for "the Lion", called Leon in the original Greek. Leon?

No controversy here about "Leon." Virtually all ancient sources relate that the Lion was known as being the King of all the beasts. Most of the ancient sources, likewise identify this lion as being the beast known as the Nemean Lion that the Greek hero Hercules had to dispose of in the 1st of his famous 12 Labors.
